I have tried a lot of different chess programs and Lucas Chess together with Chess 2020 are among the best, thanks to a style of play that closely resembles playing with a human opponent. I also like different degrees of difficulty and the manual that also states approximate ELO rating. The graphics are very successful and original. Can save the played game to PGN for later analysis.

I purchased Chess 2020 for use on my trusted older laptop still running on Win 7. The program installed and runs flawlessly. I love this Chess program because it is teaching me how to think and play chess like 'Spock'. It is brutally logical in response, and, yet, at the recreational level setting, it appears to make the occasional mistake. It also appears to change and adapt its responses during play to avoid falling into stale routines. This gives the player a more human-like experience as compared to playing against a cold-hearted machine. The Advisor function is great for asking 'Spock' what he would do in your place. However, be warned, even 'Spock' can give bad advice on occasion. The Back and Forward features allow you to review moves and explore alternative outcomes from alternative strategies. All in all, not only is this program helping me to improve my chess playing, it is also helping me to see and appreciate the beauty of the game. What fun!

I have been using Filip Höfer chess on my notebook for years and am extremely happy with it. This upgraded version looks great.

Have been enjoying Chess 2020 for quite some time now. Noticed a unique approach when countering moves even at a lower level, up to intermediate thus far. Accuracy is almost vexing compared to other games.Write a review
